| | | | | | QSI Hires VP of Business Development, Jason S. Norman, Ph.D.
Dr. Jason Norman brings to QSI a unique combination of business development and R&D experience obtained over 18 years delivering technology solutions to Fortune 500 companies in the chemicals, gas, oil refining, and energy sectors. Dr. Norman joins QSI from C12 Solutions - an environmental consulting firm specializing in clean energy technology development, carbon footprinting and carbon markets. Prior to C12 Solutions, Dr. Norman served as a business integration officer in corporate strategy for The Linde Group during their acquisition of BOC Gases - both leading global industrial gases companies. In this role, he facilitated the integration of the technology development and innovation programs as well as leading the merger of the South American regional business units.
During his ten years with BOC prior to the acquisition, Dr. Norman worked initially as a research engineer within BOC's R&D refining group where he developed and commercialized novel catalytic and combustion related technologies and processes. He progressed through the ranks of BOC's R&D function, managing the research programs for the chemicals, refining, pharmaceutical, and energy sectors. Later, Dr. Norman became section manager of the company's process simulation and modeling group where he and his team worked with major clients developing industrial process enhancements and technical solutions. Leveraging his technology successes and experience working with major customers, Dr. Norman then joined BOC's corporate business development group as a senior business development manager. His responsibilities included identifying and developing major new business growth initiatives and defining and implementing BOC's global corporate strategy.
Dr. Norman holds a Masters in Fuel and Energy Engineering from Leeds University, UK and is a Chartered Energy Engineer (European equivalent of P.E.). His doctorate, also from Leeds University, focused on understanding the formation and destruction pathways of environmental pollutants in integrated gasification combined cycles. Dr. Norman has been awarded numerous business and technical innovation awards including BOC's top 'Chairman's' award for technology innovation in oil refining. In 2004, he was selected by the National Academy of Engineering to attend their Frontiers of Engineering symposium - a symposium bringing together the Nation's top 84 engineering research scientists to explore new insights and collaborations. Dr. Norman has a proven public-speaking track record and has over twenty publications and patents in the fields of hydrogen production, pollution control, refinery, and chemical process enhancement. A multiple Ironman Triathlon finisher, Dr. Norman is a highly focused and determined individual who sets short and long-term objectives and works closely with customers and partners to ensure mutual success.
